ASK A QUESTION it can be anything CFUD related, OOC, IC, Relationship, psychology, thoughts, whatever. I.E. My character's opinion of your character or maybe what you have been wondering about this behavior or that, or general thoughts on my characters or canons or what, who I might consider topping you into apping, etc.

WHEN I REPLY I will also ask you a question in turn!

In this way we talk at each other, which is fun.

I play Kodachi Kuno, Stacy Rowe, and Ty Lee.

SUPER EXCITED I keep meaning to make a post on Stacy's journal or CFO about it oh my god. Every last bit of news I've heard on it just makes me happier with the exception of the lack of most of the licensed music, but that was sort of a given.

What is the most "holy shit awesome" moment in any or all of the canons you play from?

Persona 4: Okay a bit of setup if you don't know, in Persona 4, the characters all have glasses, as in the icon, that lets them see through the thick fog in the TV World.

Well. During the last boss fight, after The Power Of Friendship allows Souji to get back up and fight the Final Boss even after it did its instakill on him, he just RIPS THEM OFF HIS FACE and throws them off screen because he finally found the "truth" which is the whole theme of the game. And it's not a surprise at all because if you're at all familiar with tropes you know it's going to happen as soon as he puts them on for the first time but it is still just so phenomenally badass that you can't help but fall in love with it.

Marvel: Marvel really has a lot of these, but just to pick on that relates to my character personally, it would be in his Blend In (http://skinofalizard.livejournal.com/1782.html#cutid1) mini, when he smashes Northstar in the face.

Wild ARMs 3: Again, it has a lot of them, but without a doubt the one involving my character is when she takes out the most powerful demon alive on her own, blows up his base, and then escapes after being left for dead.

I have a transcript but it is super long so I won't do that to you orz

I like this question, same one for you!

Ranma 1/2: Yeah, there's just... so much. It's Ranma 1/2, man. I love Kodachi's intro scene, though, where she's ambushed by like three other girls and then proceeds to beat them all effortlessly and then keep beating the crap out of them all while monologueing about how if she weren't a lady then they'd be sorry! It's pretty much Kodachi in a nutshell, showing off her awesome fighting style and also the fact that she's a horrible person in all the best ways. On a non-Kodachi perspective, the first Ranma vs. Ryouga fight by a mile.

Daria: Hmm! Stacy-wise, definitely her snapping on Tiffany in Fat Like Me. On the whole... I think that's actually my biggest one, no other scene has ever made me go "holy shit" like that. Humor-wise, though, Daria's entire family except for Daria herself tripping out on poisonous berries on a camping trip is pretty great.

Avatar: The Ba Sing Se/Lake Laogai reveal. Avatar had been progressing more and more to going from "really really good for a show on Nick" to "really really good," and Ba Sing Se turning out to be a creepy, vaguely Orwellian utopia was the big moment that switched things over. The first scene where you get to watch all three Dangerous Ladies in action against the Gaang was also tremendous, though.

Okay, so what's even going on with Victor/the former Weir & DeFilippis characters that Yost & Kyle didn't ceremoniously kill off now? I am woefully out of touch on the X-Books these days.

Let's see...after New X-Men/the Messiah Complex event ended, Victor got a vignette (http://skinofalizard.livejournal.com/1782.html#cutid1) in an issue of Divided We Stand.

After that, he joined Young X-Men in issue 6, in what was basically the only good issue of it, and proceeded to, along with Santo, be the only good thing in all twelve issues the series got before being canceled.

Then he's kind of just faded into the background. He took an arrow to the gut in the big Dark X-Men/Utopia fight, but he's okay and still a sort of D-List background character that shows up fairly regularly when they need someone to give lines. He's getting a vignette in the next Nation X coming out at the end of the month where he is sent to Limbo. Again.

Similar question for you. I admit to falling out of touch with Avatar after the eclipse episodes. What went on with Ty Lee?

... oh god let me just copy, paste, and edit a serious poll response from half a year ago. AND GO;

So she turns on Azula to save Mai, who had previously turned on Azula to save Zuko (which sends Azula down a spiral that ends in her being batshit insane and in an asylum post-canon), and then Azula throws them both in prison and at some unspecified point Ty Lee joins the Kyoshi Warriors and teaches them chi-blocking and so she randomly shows up near the end all like "HI THESE ARE MY NEW BEST FRIENDS NOW" and she latches onto two Kyoshi Warriors who... have Azula and Mai's hairstyles. And she joined a group of characters who all dress exactly the same and wear identical facepaint when she has a complex about having grown up in an environment very similar to that, and she gets absolutely no storyline resolution whatsoever with Azula or Mai, the two characters she was tied so closely to for her entire existence in canon up to that point. I'm sure they meant well but oh god, it's just a poorly executed mess of unfortunate implications.

... so, um. Yeah. sob. On a related note, lamest thing canon has done to Anole?

Date: 2010-02-11 04:24 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] skinofalizard.livejournal.com
Wow, that's, uh...that's special.

I actually am pretty okay with the actual canon there is for Anole! Some people hate the PTSD stuff, but I think it is super interesting and love playing with it, so nyah.

My BIG PROBLEM with Anole is that outside of Skottie Young, Mike Choi, and one or two others, no one can draw him. They do so many things that just make him hideous, from making his right arm longer than his entire body, with fingers the size of his head, to...just...doing this (http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y35/Blackjack1223/Nation_X_001_005.jpg) to the poor kid. It makes it very difficult to make icons for an already difficult to icon character.

Is there anything you wish you got to bring up with your characters that you never get to? Like, aspects of their personality you never show, or interests they have that you don't get to bring up?

I'd love to play up Ty Lee's new agey hippie chick sensibilities more! I get to do it sometimes but not nearly enough. I think that's it, I don't really have that problem with Kodachi or Stacy.

The only one I can think of is with Kanji. He's sweet and adorable and derpy most of the time, it's true, but he is also a really scary mofo when he gets mad. This is the same guy who, at fourteen, took out an entire biker gang single-handedly (...granted, keeping in line with sweet adorable derpy he did it because they were keeping his mother up at night but still!)

What drew you to app the three you have now?

Date: 2010-02-11 08:14 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] head-overheels.livejournal.com
For Kodachi it was just that I really really wanted to get into CFUD as quick as possible so I was like "okay, who do I think I could app and play in this awesome game I stumbled across?" And CFUD had a great Ranma already so I decided to go with one of my old favorites.

Stacy was... well, I always loved Stacy a lot. But basically in September '06, I was playing Kodachi and I was playing Hyde and I really, really wanted a character who was actually nice and inclined to socializing with people. And one morning I realized that Stacy would be perfect as the antithesis of the characters I was playing, and from that moment on I was deadset on playing her in CFUD.

Ty Lee I was considering apping off and on for pretty much the three or four months after I finished Book Two of Avatar. But I wasn't sure on how to play her as a three-dimensional character, so I put it off. Then Zuko apped and I realized I was going to have to app Ty Lee the immediate round after or my window would be gone because someone else would have gotten her. Thankfully, The Beach aired the same week I started working on the app, and that gave me a lot of insight on playing Ty Lee. Basically, Ty Lee was awesome, Avatar as a whole was awesome, and CFUD's Avacast was awesome and I really, really wanted to play with them more often.

What's your apping process like? Like which parts do you try to write first/prioritize, if any, and so on?

My app process is such a special beast.

Step 1: Decide on a character to app, write a few sentences, maybe the punchline. If I'm lucky or dedicated, I'll get the canon section here, though lately that's been the last part I've written.

Step 2: Go "okay, there's no need to write the whole thing right now, I still have [x amount of time] before apps open." and put it away before I burn out on the character.

Step 3: FIVE MONTHS LATER, pull up the gdoc a couple hours before apps open, and bug the hell out of Roxas and Sian if they're around until I have a full app that doesn't suck.

Same question!

Is Zuko still way out in the cold for his actions during Masque's wolf-game?

Date: 2010-02-11 01:21 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] head-overheels.livejournal.com
Yeaaaah, pretty much. It's been long enough that Ty Lee can voluntarily talk to him without wanting to punch his face in, but she still really, really hates Zuko. And I think the fundamental difference between prior bouts of Ty Lee hating Zuko and the present one is that Ty Lee had always been able to rationalize that even if Zuko kept infuriating her, he still tries and means well and all that. But he had never done anything on the scale where it would do anything other than make Ty Lee really mad and frustrated and more inclined to punch her way to a resolution for a couple hours. This time, he did a combination of things that left Ty Lee a depressed, reclusive wreck for the better part of a week. That doesn't go away so easy.

... okay, now I really want to know Brooke's vantage point on the Evil Breakfast Club's issues because it seems like he's gotten to see a whole lot of them by now.

Date: 2010-02-12 08:59 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] moveurdeadfros.livejournal.com
He has! And they make him really, truly sad in his soul.

Brook has been a casual acquaintance of the Avatar-kids for a long while now, so while he doesn't have a GREAT insight in how their dynamics work he knows that Zuko and Azula are royalty. He knows from interactions with them that they are on opposite sides, he knows that the Avatar is trying to restore balance and that Azula is opposing Zuko, which probably means that Zuko being on the side of the Avatar is on the side of the "good guys".

Now... Brook's past is at the moment a huge mystery, but it is my headcanon that Brook is disgraced royalty who turned to piracy after a personal tragedy (they are rather frequent in One Piece-verse). So he's both grown up with the duties of royalty AND lived the freedom-seeking rogue-life. He's not automatically predisposed towards one side or the other, but simply hopes these children can be happy in whatever world awaits them after they have fought for their dreams.

In short, if Zuko and Azula fights it will be sad, but it's also pretty much inevitable in his mind. Now Masque enters the picture, and things get more muddy.

Does Brook think it was ultimately ZUKO'S fault that Azula died? No. Masque enforced a game on them both that was sadistic and cruel, and people adapted the best they could. Sera was a wolf too, and she's practically his camp!granddaughter. Brook saw how badly the game was tearing up the wolves, being told that if they didn't win Masque would kill off ALL the people... in the face of such sadism, he can't really dislike Zuko. He just tried to do the best he could in a terrible situation.

He sympathizes with both sides, but they were both being played and they all tried their best to fight Masque. The majority of the blame lies with him, which is why he feels sad over this event creating a rift between old friends/enemies. But on the other hand he doesn't feel as if he should go up and tell Ty Lee this, because he thinks Ty Lee thinks of Zuko as an enemy from siding with the "other side" in their homeworld conflict, so... there could be tons of things that he doesn't know about that contributes to her anger. He shouldn't just assume he can waltz in and tell her what to feel and what not to feel. He just hopes they will not let the hate and fear that Masque created remain, when the man himself is gone(?).

Ty's general thoughts on Brook?

Suzaku being back? Ty Lee's feelings?

Date: 2010-02-11 01:31 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] head-overheels.livejournal.com
Nooot happy but she'll get better with time, because unless you're Zuko, Jet or Shang (and even in the case of the prior two sometimes her opinion fluctuates) she... well. Does that. She didn't handle it well in the slightest because she had incredibly limited experience with people leaving and coming back with no memory of camp; before Suzaku it was Mai, and Mai is different because Mai knows Ty Lee and only would be forgetting camp. It's infinitely more uncomfortable with Suzaku because... well. They had a vaguely romantic relationship before, especially at the end there! And now, for Ty Lee, it feels like none of that matters in the slightest, so when confronted with Suzaku being back she was like a hop, skip, and a jump away from being at that level of frustration where she just gets violent in order to make it stop.

But she's also really annoyed with herself because of that, because it's not Suzaku's fault in the slightest and she took it out on him anyway. The next time she sees him odds are she's going to be a lot more civil and conciliatory and awkward, at least.

What is Lelouch's all-time least favorite camp effect?

Date: 2010-02-11 01:52 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] plzdontoustme.livejournal.com
Aww, poor Ty Lee. :(

Lelouch hates anything that is truly helpless so probably the kitten because he can negotiate the genderswitch, can deal with being someone else, could fly as the raven, hardly ever remembers de-aging and could at least kick people as a pony. So yeah, definitely the kitten. Also, when Nunnally turned into a kitten. Poor blind baby. ;;

I also never got to ask whether Ty Lee knew of Lelouch's involvement in the whole kill Azula (not the giant dog part. I have... many issues with the giant dog part so let's skip that.), just the wolfing her and pretty much telling Zuko to do it. If so, how would she react around him now.

Date: 2010-02-11 06:27 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] head-overheels.livejournal.com
She doesn't know that part! To be honest, it actually wouldn't change that much beyond her maybe being more openly hostile to him. The difference between Zuko and Lelouch is that in Zuko's case it's kind of a huge betrayal to her on a bunch of different levels. In Lelouch's case it's just like... Ty Lee has never really liked him much in the first place (and I'm not even 100% sure why, it's almost like a Sitcom Arch Nemesis thing where Ty Lee is just like argh that guy), and she doesn't see it as being a huge problem like Zuko doing it did because there are long-term implications for Zuko being willing to do that, whereas there aren't really any for Lelouch.

If you were to reapp any of your dropped characters, which one would be most likely and why?

Date: 2010-02-11 06:33 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] shoot-ed-up.livejournal.com
Well, in my backlogging, I realized how much I truly adore Daisuke's threads, but I refuse to reapp him without a Ken or Digimon castmate of some kind who he is close to. And I'm still of the opinion that Digimon characters are not Digimon characters without their Digimon so chances are low. :(

Second is running is Faith because I NEVER APP GIRLS ANYMORE and that sucks. I love Faith, but when I played her I was such a back-burning player that her character never did mess with camp, aside from her epic slayer fight with Buffy. I guess Faith would still work without Buffy, but I'm worried I'd burn out on her. That and I'm not sure I can be seductive enough. If I could figure out a way to app her and have her last, I'd definitely try.

Switch your charas and their canons. What madness ensues?

Kodachi would be an awesome Avatar character, man. Probably a Fire Nation noble along the same lines as Ty Lee and Mai who'd probably either function as either like a political rival to Azula like Zhao did to Zuko or a loose ally. In Daria, she'd... well. really she would probably be somewhere in the realm of minor recurring characters. The show never really had a rich bitch type per se (Sandi Griffin comes closest but her thing wasn't really wealth) so there'd probably be something to mine there.

Stacy in... either canon would pretty much not change at all. I could see her being a minor character of the week in Avatar somewhere with some hidden ability that she can only tap into after searching her heart and finding her confidence!!1!

Ty Lee would actually be a pretty decent fit in either Ranma 1/2 or Daria. The former is an obvious fit, since Ty Lee's a quirky teenage girl who happens to be a scary good martial artist with a unique style (she actually did have a match against Ranma in like... 2008, which she won under the "Ranma usually loses the first fight" rule). And in the case of the latter her new agey qualities would probably end up being played up a million times more, and she'd probably end up in the same category as Jodie and Mack as Lawndale High characters who aren't friends of Daria and Jane, as such, but get along with them well enough.

Is there anything Code Geass/supplementary canon for Geass has failed to really explain that you'd want to know more about?

Date: 2010-02-11 03:15 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] sistercomplex.livejournal.com
Lol Ty Lee and Jodie is a hilarious image. I see Daria and Jane as not being fans though.

I would really really really like MISSING MONTH information. I mean, it's fun to speculate and all. But more than anything, I want to know what exactly Lelouch said to Suzaku in the World of C. I want to see that conversation. And I would like if the stuff in Mutuality had a picture drama/novel/sound drama reference since people tend to regard it as only loosely canon and IT'S ALL I HAVE. That said, I want to know about Suzaku's mother and well, CC's name would still be nice. Talk about a cop-out.

Date: 2010-02-11 09:03 pm (UTC)

... actually, I just realized. Hippie inclinations + a million siblings = Ty Lee would probably just be one of the like fifty Lane siblings if she were in Daria.
