hopefully this will be less weird than the last one

ASK A QUESTION it can be anything CFUD related, OOC, IC, Relationship, psychology, thoughts, whatever. I.E. My character's opinion of your character or maybe what you have been wondering about this behavior or that, or general thoughts on my characters or canons or what, who I might consider topping you into apping, etc.

WHEN I REPLY I will also ask you a question in turn!

In this way we talk at each other, which is fun.

I play Kodachi Kuno, Stacy Rowe, and Ty Lee.

Persona 4: Okay a bit of setup if you don't know, in Persona 4, the characters all have glasses, as in the icon, that lets them see through the thick fog in the TV World.

Well. During the last boss fight, after The Power Of Friendship allows Souji to get back up and fight the Final Boss even after it did its instakill on him, he just RIPS THEM OFF HIS FACE and throws them off screen because he finally found the "truth" which is the whole theme of the game. And it's not a surprise at all because if you're at all familiar with tropes you know it's going to happen as soon as he puts them on for the first time but it is still just so phenomenally badass that you can't help but fall in love with it.

Marvel: Marvel really has a lot of these, but just to pick on that relates to my character personally, it would be in his Blend In (http://skinofalizard.livejournal.com/1782.html#cutid1) mini, when he smashes Northstar in the face.

Wild ARMs 3: Again, it has a lot of them, but without a doubt the one involving my character is when she takes out the most powerful demon alive on her own, blows up his base, and then escapes after being left for dead.

I have a transcript but it is super long so I won't do that to you orz

I like this question, same one for you!

Ranma 1/2: Yeah, there's just... so much. It's Ranma 1/2, man. I love Kodachi's intro scene, though, where she's ambushed by like three other girls and then proceeds to beat them all effortlessly and then keep beating the crap out of them all while monologueing about how if she weren't a lady then they'd be sorry! It's pretty much Kodachi in a nutshell, showing off her awesome fighting style and also the fact that she's a horrible person in all the best ways. On a non-Kodachi perspective, the first Ranma vs. Ryouga fight by a mile.

Daria: Hmm! Stacy-wise, definitely her snapping on Tiffany in Fat Like Me. On the whole... I think that's actually my biggest one, no other scene has ever made me go "holy shit" like that. Humor-wise, though, Daria's entire family except for Daria herself tripping out on poisonous berries on a camping trip is pretty great.

Avatar: The Ba Sing Se/Lake Laogai reveal. Avatar had been progressing more and more to going from "really really good for a show on Nick" to "really really good," and Ba Sing Se turning out to be a creepy, vaguely Orwellian utopia was the big moment that switched things over. The first scene where you get to watch all three Dangerous Ladies in action against the Gaang was also tremendous, though.

Okay, so what's even going on with Victor/the former Weir & DeFilippis characters that Yost & Kyle didn't ceremoniously kill off now? I am woefully out of touch on the X-Books these days.

[identity profile] skinofalizard.livejournal.com 2010-02-10 04:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Let's see...after New X-Men/the Messiah Complex event ended, Victor got a vignette (http://skinofalizard.livejournal.com/1782.html#cutid1) in an issue of Divided We Stand.

After that, he joined Young X-Men in issue 6, in what was basically the only good issue of it, and proceeded to, along with Santo, be the only good thing in all twelve issues the series got before being canceled.

Then he's kind of just faded into the background. He took an arrow to the gut in the big Dark X-Men/Utopia fight, but he's okay and still a sort of D-List background character that shows up fairly regularly when they need someone to give lines. He's getting a vignette in the next Nation X coming out at the end of the month where he is sent to Limbo. Again.

Similar question for you. I admit to falling out of touch with Avatar after the eclipse episodes. What went on with Ty Lee?

[identity profile] head-overheels.livejournal.com 2010-02-11 04:12 am (UTC)(link)
... oh god let me just copy, paste, and edit a serious poll response from half a year ago. AND GO;

So she turns on Azula to save Mai, who had previously turned on Azula to save Zuko (which sends Azula down a spiral that ends in her being batshit insane and in an asylum post-canon), and then Azula throws them both in prison and at some unspecified point Ty Lee joins the Kyoshi Warriors and teaches them chi-blocking and so she randomly shows up near the end all like "HI THESE ARE MY NEW BEST FRIENDS NOW" and she latches onto two Kyoshi Warriors who... have Azula and Mai's hairstyles. And she joined a group of characters who all dress exactly the same and wear identical facepaint when she has a complex about having grown up in an environment very similar to that, and she gets absolutely no storyline resolution whatsoever with Azula or Mai, the two characters she was tied so closely to for her entire existence in canon up to that point. I'm sure they meant well but oh god, it's just a poorly executed mess of unfortunate implications.

... so, um. Yeah. sob. On a related note, lamest thing canon has done to Anole?

[identity profile] skinofalizard.livejournal.com 2010-02-11 04:24 am (UTC)(link)
Wow, that's, uh...that's special.

I actually am pretty okay with the actual canon there is for Anole! Some people hate the PTSD stuff, but I think it is super interesting and love playing with it, so nyah.

My BIG PROBLEM with Anole is that outside of Skottie Young, Mike Choi, and one or two others, no one can draw him. They do so many things that just make him hideous, from making his right arm longer than his entire body, with fingers the size of his head, to...just...doing this (http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y35/Blackjack1223/Nation_X_001_005.jpg) to the poor kid. It makes it very difficult to make icons for an already difficult to icon character.

Is there anything you wish you got to bring up with your characters that you never get to? Like, aspects of their personality you never show, or interests they have that you don't get to bring up?

I'd love to play up Ty Lee's new agey hippie chick sensibilities more! I get to do it sometimes but not nearly enough. I think that's it, I don't really have that problem with Kodachi or Stacy.

Same question right back at you :|b

The only one I can think of is with Kanji. He's sweet and adorable and derpy most of the time, it's true, but he is also a really scary mofo when he gets mad. This is the same guy who, at fourteen, took out an entire biker gang single-handedly (...granted, keeping in line with sweet adorable derpy he did it because they were keeping his mother up at night but still!)

What drew you to app the three you have now?

[identity profile] head-overheels.livejournal.com 2010-02-11 08:14 am (UTC)(link)
For Kodachi it was just that I really really wanted to get into CFUD as quick as possible so I was like "okay, who do I think I could app and play in this awesome game I stumbled across?" And CFUD had a great Ranma already so I decided to go with one of my old favorites.

Stacy was... well, I always loved Stacy a lot. But basically in September '06, I was playing Kodachi and I was playing Hyde and I really, really wanted a character who was actually nice and inclined to socializing with people. And one morning I realized that Stacy would be perfect as the antithesis of the characters I was playing, and from that moment on I was deadset on playing her in CFUD.

Ty Lee I was considering apping off and on for pretty much the three or four months after I finished Book Two of Avatar. But I wasn't sure on how to play her as a three-dimensional character, so I put it off. Then Zuko apped and I realized I was going to have to app Ty Lee the immediate round after or my window would be gone because someone else would have gotten her. Thankfully, The Beach aired the same week I started working on the app, and that gave me a lot of insight on playing Ty Lee. Basically, Ty Lee was awesome, Avatar as a whole was awesome, and CFUD's Avacast was awesome and I really, really wanted to play with them more often.

What's your apping process like? Like which parts do you try to write first/prioritize, if any, and so on?

My app process is such a special beast.

Step 1: Decide on a character to app, write a few sentences, maybe the punchline. If I'm lucky or dedicated, I'll get the canon section here, though lately that's been the last part I've written.

Step 2: Go "okay, there's no need to write the whole thing right now, I still have [x amount of time] before apps open." and put it away before I burn out on the character.

Step 3: FIVE MONTHS LATER, pull up the gdoc a couple hours before apps open, and bug the hell out of Roxas and Sian if they're around until I have a full app that doesn't suck.

Same question!
