By her second year at the circus, for many of the other troupe members in her age group Ty Lee became the central focus of a long-running contest to see who could manage to stay in a relationship with her the longest, one which Ty Lee not only found out about quickly but outright encouraged. The contest came to a close when Xuan, one of the older acrobats whom Ty Lee would have considered to be like a sister if not for her aversion to that word, explained the concept of friends with benefits to her, thusly killing the competition outright as it became impossible to tie her down in a monogamous relationship.

Prior to it, in the lead was Li, the contortionist, as the shared ability gave Ty Lee and himself common ground, and more importantly for Ty Lee it gave the opportunity to figure out different variations on traditional kissing techniques. He lasted almost a month.
